Did you know that the closest point to the sun is not in the Himalayas, but on the opposite side of the world? Because the Earth bulges at the equator, Mount Chimborazo is actually higher.
Halfway between there and the equator itself (a mere 100 kilometers or 65 miles), we are proud to grow our flowers at the foot of Cotopaxi, Ecuador’s second-tallest volcano.
Ecuador literally means “equator” in Spanish but, high in the Andes Mountains, our climate remains temperate all year round – perfect for roses. Direct sunlight and rich volcanic soil results in blooms that are 5 centimeters (2 inches) wider than anywhere else in the world!
The stems themselves can grow over 5 feet tall. The cool temperatures and high elevation also slow the growing process, which means that our roses last longer than the competition’s – a week or more.
Despite being such a tiny country, Ecuador is the third largest producer of flowers in the world, so if you’re looking for more than roses, we’ve got you covered (in all the colors of the rainbow and then some as well). Direct flights to the United States, Europe, and the Middle East from nearby Quito International Airport, so we can ship our fresh products for next-day delivery.
The "APAX" of roses from the highest place on Earth.
